Introduction
After last year’s success Portsmouth Hospitals Charity are pleased to launch Dragons’ Den 2024.
Once again £50,000 from the “Working Together” fund is being released to support any project across the Trust.
If you have an idea that we can fund, you can apply for a Dragon’s Den Grant from £1,000 to £20,000 to make this idea a reality.
Successful projects from last year include:
VR Headset

Zoe Parton, Play Specialist, said “It can be used up to 6-7 times a day for procedures. It is so easy to set up that everyone can use it. We use it for bloods tests, burns dressing and cannulation to name a few things. It helps to keep the kids calm when going through these procedures. It can also help parents as they can get actively involved by using the tablet and this can also help with parent anxiety as they can see what their children are seeing.”
"Butterfly" End of Life Resources

A family member who worked with the Butterfly team told us “On behalf of our family, I wanted to write to thank the wonderful Butterfly team for the short time that they looked after my Dad. We made the decision for Dad to spend his final hours at QA and the team who looked after him were just wonderful.”
Dementia Friendly X-Ray Room

Staff who use the room said that the redecoration of the room has given it a calming and non-clinical look. It has also made the room easier to use for both patients and staff and means that patients aren’t in stressful situations for as long as before, helping their emotional wellbeing.
What is Dragon's Den?
**Dragon's Den is for PHU staff only**
Every year the charity receives generous donations to our “Working Together” fund which can be used anywhere in the hospital for the benefit of patients and staff.
The Dragons’ Den is our opportunity to demonstrate to our supporters’ specific projects on which their donations have been spent.
