Jess, Jen, Laura, Toby and Reeva are all taking on the Colour Dash in memory of their Dad/Grandad Bryan after losing him to cancer in March 2025.
"Portsmouth Hospitals Charity were so supportive to use during this difficult time. They gave us 7 resin hearts, one for each of his daughters and grandchildren, which Dad held in his hand and had under his pillow during his last days. Then we were able to take them home to keep as a lasting memory.
The QA Hospital in general have shown such compassion and respect to all of us during the worst time of our lives. There are not enough words to express our gratitude to them. We have signed up to do the Colour Dash in memory of our special Dad and Grandad, as well as to support the phenomenal work of Portsmouth Hospitals Charity." - Jess
The resin hearts that Jess and her family received are from the Butterfly Project, which is funded by the Charity. The Butterfly Project looks to support staff, patients and families during end-of-life care. The Butterfly Project resources include handmade syringe driver bags, the resin 'loving hearts' mentioned above, bags for patients' property and butterfly information signs for clinical areas.
