Meet Josh Sanders.

Working as a ward nurse on E10 ward at Queen Alexandra (QA) Hospital, Josh is taking on this year’s Great South Run for our charity.

Raising vital funds for Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU), Josh, who started working at QA in January 2022, balances his time as a military nurse, with responsibilities including leading and delivering training both in and outside the hospital.

With this in mind, you can read more on Josh below about why he is fundraising for our charity to help enhance patient care and staff wellbeing at PHU.

Meet Josh - The Q&A

What do you enjoy the most about being at PHU?

Josh: The hospital staff really make it a fun and enjoyable place to work. The way everyone chips in to ensure patient care is completed to the highest standards is great.

What motivates you to fundraise and give back to PHU and our charity?

Josh: Our charity is definitely worth raising additional funds for and the public are keen to give back. As a nurse on the wards, I can see the money going to help with good causes first hand.

How have you found your training preparation ahead of the Great South Run?

Josh: Admittedly, running training has been arduous though enjoyable through the summer months.

How much are you looking forward to running the Great South Run?

Josh: I am excited to run and I’m hoping and praying for a dry, warm day like last year.

Have you got any particular fundraising targets or running time targets?

Josh: I am aiming to raise as much money as possible, but I’m honestly just happy with the support people are giving. I’m aiming to complete the run in under 1 hour 30 minutes.

In summary, why would you recommend people fundraise for/donate to our charity?

Josh: The money raised and put into the charity goes straight to the places needing it most and staff really appreciate the extra support.

Good luck to Josh and all of our runners taking on this year’s Great South Run and for everyone who kindly donates to those taking part.
